About the Wiltshire Caledonian Pipes & Drums Youth Band

Come on over and join the Wiltshire Caledonian Pipes & Drums band and learn to play the bagpipes, snare drum, tenor drum or bass drum.  We offer free tuition for individuals and small groups with a fully structured leaning programme which offers the option of certification.

What does that mean?  This is a great opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, gain confidence and to work as a team.  As you progress, you will gain the magnificent experience of playing in a Scottish Pipe Band with opportunities to perform at festivals, parades, concerts and competitions.

To be sure that you really want to join the band and become a full Youth Band member, you have a free, four week trial period to help you make your decision.  After the four weeks has expired, then the Youth Band Membership is £6.00 per month. 

 Once you sign up as a full youth band member you will receive: 

• Loan of a practice chanter or pad and drum sticks
• Structured tuition & learning materials
• Loan uniform when you turn out for the band

NB: registration for SQA piping & drumming qualifications is paid separately.

Youth band members are between the ages of 8, and 18 years of age, after which you move up to the Senior band.

Becoming a member of the Wiltshire Caledonian Pipes & Drums band is a commitment and we expect regular attendance at the training sessions, and regular practice at home.  Remember that it takes real dedication to be a good Piper or Drummer and the more you practice, the quicker you’ll be able to join the band playing at events.

Youth Band Practice is held on Mondays between 18:00 -19:00 at the Westwood Social Club, Westwood and on Tuesdays between 18:30 - 19:30 at the Village Centre, Shipton Bellinger.
